Die Drei Fragezeichen is an audiobook series that is loved by people of all ages and is somewhat of an institution in Germany and Austria. On spotify, this series is the most listened to artist in these regions. Spotify wanted to celebrate the love for Die Drei Fragezeichen by creating a site where users could see how people were listening to the series and users on spotify could see their own relationship with the series.

Using location data, users could see how their city stacked up against others. They could see which city had the biggest fans, where Die Drei Fragezeichen was most popular, which city had listened to most, and the popularity of different categories across different cities.

ABOVE: FAN COMPARISON

We used listening data to give fans a sense of how much of a fan they were compared to other listeners by week, month and for the year. Top fans were given the prestigious title of 'Masterdetective' and used key elements from the stories in congratulating them on their acheivement.

We looked at listening data to reveal behaviors on what kind of listener the user was, playing on the knowledge that listeners would often fall asleep listening to the audiobooks and it is commonly said that "Die Drei Fragezeichen is the best sleep medicine.

The user's relationship with the audiobook series was visualised as a graph that became their listening signature, unique to each individual. Visualised was episode coverage of the series, peaks and troughs in listening, and categories of episodes preffered.
